Muriel White's Art Exhibition

30 May 2015

Muriel White, one of the Red House residents gave an exhibition of her art work from the last 32 years.  They were mostly watercolours but also some acrylic and pastels.  Many of the visitors who came to support Muriel's event were from her local church, which she was very happy about.  Muriel raffled off one her pictures with proceeds going to Parkinson's UK.  Everyone in the home enjoyed the day looking at the paintings and having the odd glass of Pimms or Bucks Fizz.

A few words from Muriel:

They say it's 'a gift'.  Thank you for making it possible for this gift to be used to give some pleasure to my friends.  I would like to mention especially those without whom this would have never taken place.

Val, Georgina,  Geraldine – who hatched up the whole idea. Christine who helped sort, name and describe and stick on the 'not for sale' dots.  Scilla, my daughter, who valiantly mounted all my loose work and came up with the idea of how to hang the finished efforts.  I could not have managed without the support.  Stuart and other members of staff who helped 'hang-up' and 'take-down' and 'move out', in the case of the normal furniture, and to the rest of the residents who didn't mind eating elsewhere.  Tricia for all the typing of labels, preparing them for use and being a ready supplier of our needs.  And then on the day – the FLOWERS, the DRINKS and the NIBBLES!!!

The raffle yielded £114 which has been sent to the Parkinson's Disease Society.
