Job Title: CHEF/CATERING MANAGER
Responsible to: The Manager
Job Summary
To ensure the safe smooth running of the kitchen and ensure that a high standard of food is served at all times and that it is always well presented on the plate and on the menu.
To ensure that a high standard of hygiene and personal appearance is constantly maintained in accordance with the policies of the Home, Environmental Health Officer and District Health Authority.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To keep all food and food storage areas clean and tidy and give Environmental Health Officer or District Health Authority no cause for complaint. The Company Cleaning Schedule should be displayed and USED.
2. To plan a 4 week well balanced menu with the residents' likes and dislikes firmly in mind. Take into account fresh foods in season, lighter menu items in Spring and Summer, steamed puddings, dumplings, in Winter, etc. Alternatives must be available to main meal of the day, fish omelettes, salad, etc.
3. To use fresh ingredients whenever possible, especially fresh vegetables, home-made soups, sauces and sweets. Fresh fruit as an alternative should be available after every meal.
4. To use flair and imagination in preparing and cooking meals for the residents in the Home. Meals should be well balanced, appetising, nutritious and well presented with garnish and served with the appropriate accompaniments.
5. Menus must be well displayed with good descriptive wording. We are not only trying to please the residents with their food, we have to sell the Home to potential clients and the appearance of everyone and everything in the Home is very important.
6. To purchase all the food and drinks commodities from nominated suppliers.
7. To pay careful attention to the quantity and quality of commodities purchased. Overstocking, understocking and waste must be avoided.
8. To keep a clear record of all purchases and pass invoices for payment.
9. To provide staff in the Home with meals in accordance with the staff meals policy. If expensive menu items are included in a particular meal, use your judgement as to whether a reasonable cheaper alternative can be offered to the staff on that occasion.
10. To work as part of a team within the Home, responding to all reasonable requests from the Manager and Management with respect to catering for functions and special events, or improving or maintaining standards.
11. Liaise with the Manager regularly on catering matters, special diets, functions, etc.
12. Get to know the residents, visit them regularly, you are there to please them, make sure that they are happy with your food.
13. Take a stock check of all food stuffs, monthly/quarterly as required by Management and be aware of costs at all times.
14. To complete the cleaning schedules and record temperatures of hot/cold food and fridges/freezers.
15. Attend staff meetings.
16. To attend fire lectures, demonstrations and all training sessions as part of an in-house training programme, as required.

FULL TIME 37.5 Hours on Rota basis including alternate weekends

Responsible to the Directors, Manager and Deputy Manager to carry out assistance
which promotes clients comfort and support.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. To provide a high standard of direct nursing care to residents, based on the
assessment of care needs and in consultation with the residents, their relatives and
the care team.
2. To continuously evaluate the quality of care given, and regularly reassess the needs of
residents in consultation with the residents, their relatives and the care team, and to
effect change required to achieve planned goals.
3. To administer and order medicines.
4. Liaising with GP, chiropodist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist and other
members of the wider care team.
5. Care planning and implementation of care plans.
6. To work with the UKCC codes of conduct and Scope of Practice and within the
home's policies and procedures.
7. To continuously review their own nursing practices to develop new skills and
knowledge through continuous professional development training that contribute
to the enhancement of patient care skills.
8. To work closely with other members of the care team, ensuring that effective,
high-quality care is given, to achieve planned goals.
9. To ensure the effective and efficient use of all home resources.
10. To keep next of kin informed of significant changes in a service user's condition.
11. To ensure religious, cultural, emotional and psychological support for residents
and their families.
12. To attend and participate in relevant staff meetings and fire lectures.

Position: Care Assistant NVQ Level 2/3 - Apply to join our Bank Staff
Responsible to the Directors, Manager, Deputy Manager and Registered Nurse to carry out asisstance which promotes clients comfort and support.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. All duties will be undertaken under the guidance of trained staff.
2. To participate in residents' care plans under the direction of senior trained staff.
3. To report observations to qualified nursing staff and receive instructions.
4. To carry out simple basic nursing procedures under qualified supervision.
5. To attend fire lectures, demonstrations and training sessions as part of an in-house
training programme, as required.
6. To maintain personal contact with residents through conversation, residents' activities
and entertainment, to encourage a homely atmosphere.
7. To assist in the preparation and serving of residents' meals and special diets.
8. To attend staff meetings.
9. To assist and liaise with other staff in maintaining and improving the standards of the
residents' home environment.
10. To maintain residents' clothing, the home's stores and equipment, provisions and
supplies with due regard to residents' needs.
11. To report any aspect that may affect the welfare and comfort of residents or the
health and safety of staff.
12. To conduct oneself in a proper and courteous manner at all times.
13. To be aware of the need for energy conservation and observe advice given in
these matters.
14. To observe Health and Safety regulations which are the responsibility of the
employee paying particular attention to fire regulations, drill and procedures.
15. Any other duties that may be reasonably requested by the Manager or the Nurse
in charge, which fall within the purview of the post.
Duties
1. Bed making: both empty and occupied beds
2. Cleaning and care of equipment including bed accessories and utensils:
a) Care of linen
b) Disposal of soiled linen
c) Disposable items
3. Cleanliness/tidiness of the Home and annexes.
4. Urine testing.
5. Assist in the care of residents' personal belongings in conjunction with trained staff.
6. Bed bathing, including care of mouth, teeth, hair, nails and care of pressure areas
and skin.
7. Care of ambulant residents, bathing in bathroom with assisted baths lift.
8. Giving and removing bed pans, urinals and use of commodes.
9. Assisting with incontinent residents.

Position: Domestic/Housekeeping - Hours 37.5 per week
Responsible to the Directors, Manager, Deputy Manager, Housekeeper.
Job Summary
To work closely with the Domestic staff.
To ensure the presentation of the interior of the building is of the highest standard at all times.
The standard of cleanliness, safety and tidiness should be achieved and maintained to meet the requirements of Environmental Health, Fire and Health and Safety at work regulations, particularly COSHH and the policies of the Company.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Wear the correct uniform provided by the Company and be personally
presentable at all times.
2. Allocate duties as per work schedule and work with the Domestic staff to ensure the daily routine is carried out efficiently.
3. Ensure a smart, clean appearance and be polite and courteous with
residents, respecting their privacy at all times.
4. Ensure that residents' rooms and public areas are in perfect order, reporting any faults, e.g. defective light bulbs, worn carpets, broken fittings to the Manager or enter in the Maintenance Man's Book.
5. When rooms become available check all furniture, carpets, curtains, paintwork etc and make sure room is ready for new resident in accordance with the Home's admissions procedure.
6. "Spot clean" furniture daily, or as required.
7. Treat any emergency stains on carpets or furniture, and shampoo regularly
when necessary.
8. Liaise with care staff to ensure the needs of the residents are met.
9. Check and maintain life of fresh flowers and plants daily, removing dead leaves, etc., and water as required.
10. Check curtains are hanging correctly, replace hooks, etc. Discuss cleaning of
same with the Manager.
11. Check position of lounge and dining room furniture and liaise with the Manager to ensure compatibility of layout.
12. Be familiar with types of cleaning products provided, ensuring minimum
waste and sensible stock control, and ensure compliance with COSHH. Maintain COSHH records and Risk Assessments.
13. Ensure correct use of machinery and instruct where necessary.
14. Cover domestic duties as and when required.
15. Attend staff meetings and fire lectures when requested, reporting any faults.
16. Liaise with maintenance man and work in conjunction with him when
cleaning carpets, etc.
17. Ensure safety whilst working - no trailing flexes, trolleys obstructing
passageways, wet floors to be marked.
18. Carry out straightforward sewing duties as required.
19. Implement and monitor cleaning schedules daily, weekly, monthly, etc.,
as instructed and liaise with the Manager if there are any difficulties.
